Cooper Lighting recently announced a solid-state lighting retrofit project at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The LED high-bay lights upgraded this time are expected to save the school $70,500 (about 436,762 yuan) per year.
The University of Illinois' original metal halide lamps have a power of up to 400W, while the upgraded METALUX HB LED high-bay lights have a power of only 100W. The lower heat generation and longer life also allow the staff to reduce maintenance.
The person in charge of the project said that better lighting control can provide greater advantages in energy saving convenience. The new lighting is designed with sub-control switch control, and the university staff can individually control the LED lights without having to light all the lamps.
