Industrial sites generally require data collectors to perform various data collection tasks. In practical applications, the data collector is required to be reliable, low in cost, simple in operation, convenient for data collection and analysis, and capable of working with a PC and collecting data independently.
To this end, this article uses a highly integrated processor C8051F340 with on-chip USB controller and D/A converter as the core device, using SD card storage technology to realize software LabVIEW design graphical user interface using USB bus, virtual instrument, design a low Cost data collector. The data collector can be used for data acquisition and analysis together with the PC. It can also work independently on the industrial site for a long time, and store the collected data in a large-capacity SD card for data collection and computer analysis. The core component of the datalogger, the C8051F340, is a fully integrated mixed-signal, system-on-chip MCU with an 8051-compatible microcontroller core with up to 48 MI/s and pipeline structure: full-speed, non-intrusive in-circuit debug interface; with 8 Flexible endpoint channel, USB function controller with transceiver and 1 KB FIFO RAM; power regulator; 10-bit 200 KS/s single-ended/differential ADC with analog multiplexer; precisely calibrated 12 MHz internal Oscillator and 4x clock multiplier; up to 64 KB of on-chip flash memory; 4 352 bytes of on-chip RAM; programmable counter/timer array with 5 capture/compare modules and watchdog timer function; 3.3 V operating voltage, low power consumption with on-chip power-on reset, VDD monitor and clock loss detector; up to 40 I/O ports for 5 V input. There is also a free integrated development software, the Silicon Labs IDE for this processor, and a USBXpress development kit for its on-chip USB controller, making USB software development easy.
System design
The system design block diagram is shown in Figure 1. The whole system consists of a PC and a C8051F340 data acquisition module. The PC part is mainly software design, including the data acquisition graphical user interface written by LabVIEW software and the C8051F340 microcontroller on-chip USB host API, which is responsible for receiving, displaying and processing the collected data sent by the data acquisition module through the USB interface. The data acquisition module is mainly composed of C8051F340 processor, pre-processing circuit and SD card. It is responsible for collecting the measured signal of the pre-processed circuit through the C8051F340 on-chip D/A, and then storing the collected signal to the SD card and transmitting it to the SD bus. PC display. In addition, both the LabVIEW application and the C8051F340 application use the API and drivers of the USBXpress development kit from Silicon Laboratories to read and write to the underlying USB device.
