Intel plans to launch 7 series motherboard chipset in the second quarter of 2012

According to Taiwan Electronics Times’ information from motherboard manufacturers, Intel plans to launch next-generation 7 series motherboard chipsets Z77, Z75, and H77 in March or April 2012 to support the upcoming 22nm Ivy Bridge core CPUs. In addition to the enterprise market, Intel also plans to launch the Q77, Q75 and B75 chipsets containing the next-generation vPro business platform desktop technology to replace the existing Q67, Q65 and B65 chipsets.

In the new 7 series chipset, Z77 and Z75 will support the overclocking function of CPU (adjust CPU multiplier). All three new chipsets support Intel SRT hybrid hard disk technology, integrating four USB 3.0, 10 USB 2.0, two SATA 6Gbps interfaces and a sound card that supports HDMI/DP audio output.

The Q77 and Q75 in the commercial chipset also provide four USB 3.0 and ten USB 2.0 ports. The B75 is cut slightly and only provides eight USB 2.0 ports. Q77 provides 2 SATA 6Gbps, Q75 and B75 only provide one. Only Q77 supports Intel SRT hybrid hard disk technology in the three chipsets.

As for the next-generation mobile platform "Chief River", Intel also plans to launch motherboard chipsets QS77, QM77, HM77, HM76 and HM75 for use in the platform in March and April 2012. The long-awaited X79 chipset for high-end desktop users will be officially shipped in August this year.
