On November 9th, the US Cree company held a press conference in Huizhou, Guangdong Province today, announcing that the company will build an LED chip factory in Huizhou. This is another major move in the Chinese market following the acquisition of Huagang Optoelectronics in 2007, bringing packaging technology to China.
At the same time, the Huizhou Municipal Government announced that it has officially joined the “Cuiru LED City Planâ€, which is the second city in China to join the plan after Tianjin.
It is understood that as of September this year, the number of LED chip companies in mainland China has increased to 62. Among the major chip giants such as OSRAM, Cree, Nichia and Philips, only Cree has a packaging factory in China. The first time Cree set up a chip factory in China has the potential to trigger a large-scale expansion of foreign manufacturers into China. It will also promote the development of China's LED chip technology.
