On February 10, 2009, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Catalina Lighting Corporation jointly announced a voluntary recall of China-made retractable halogen worktable lamps.
The recalled retractable halogen table lamp, also known as the architectslamp, consists of a 150W halogen bulb, a retractable arm and a lamp holder. The recall is limited to halogen table lamps with product model number 13456-US and product batch numbers C06081581V185, C06081582V185 and C06081584V185. The halogen table lamp was sold at the Staples retail store in the United States from July to October 2008 and is priced at $50/inch.
The number of recalled goods was about 2,000. The reason for the recall is that the protective lamp cover of the halogen lamp is easily broken, and the exposed halogen bulb has a risk of causing fire and causing burns to the user. Currently, Catalina Lighting has received 65 reports of rupture of protective shades, and no injuries have been reported.
To this end, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommended that consumers immediately stop using the recalled halogen workbench and contact Catalina Lighting for a free replacement of the lampshade.
