Mitsubishi Electric Osram will launch 60W LED bulbs

Mitsubishi Electric Osram (Headquarters: Yokohama City) will launch the "PARATHOM A55" (picture) with LED (light-emitting diode) as the light source on September 21, 2009. The new product has a vertical illumination of 57lx, which is equivalent to a 60W incandescent lamp; the total luminous flux is 350lm, which is equivalent to a 30W incandescent lamp. The price is open, and the actual selling price is estimated to be around 4,000 yen, which is basically the same as the LED bulbs of Sharp and Toshiba Lighting Technology (Headquarters; Tokyo).

The rated power consumption is 7.6W, which is 1/7 of the company's original 60W incandescent lamp. The life (the time until the luminous flux maintenance rate reaches 70%) is 40,000 hours, which is about 40 times that of the original product. By setting the color temperature to 3000K (white), the sense of incongruity with incandescent lamps is alleviated. In addition, in order to make the color look natural, the average color rendering index is set to 82Ra.

The heat sink is made of aluminum alloy (ADC12), the part of the lamp cover (Dome) is made of polycarbonate, and the nearest part of the lamp socket is made of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin. The outer dimensions are 111mm long, the maximum width is 55mm, and the weight is 140g. The lamp port is E26 type.

In 2008, the Japanese government introduced a policy of stopping production and sales of incandescent lamps by 2012. At the same time, the company also plans to stop production and sales of incandescent lamps for general lighting by 2012. The company has been promoting the "PARATHOM" series of LED lighting for performance and decorative lighting since 2008. This time, a new product for general lighting has been added to its product range.
