Seoul Semiconductor White LED is not infringing Japanese patents

The LED lawsuit issued a statement stating that the company "does not infringe" the European patent "EP541373" owned by Nichia Chemical Industry. On September 16, 2008, Nichia Chemical Industry filed a lawsuit in the UK, referring to Seoul Semiconductor's white LED "Acriche" infringing the patent (see this site report).
Seoul Semiconductor said: "Acriche accepted the technical licenses of Gertrude Neumark Rothschild and the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has no relationship with the patents of Nichia Chemical Industry." In addition, regarding the patent (EP541373) owned by Nichia Chemical Industry for heat treatment of p-type GaN-based semiconductor films at a temperature higher than 400 °C, Seoul Semiconductor believes that "there are invalid reasons for Japanese patents because of similar advanced technologies." Fast Recovery Diode

Fast Recovery Diode is a semiconductor device which possesses short reverse recovery time for rectification purpose at high frequency. A quick recovery time is crucial for rectification of high-frequency AC signal. Diodes are mostly used in rectifiers because they possess ultra-high switching speed.
