The W5500 is one of WIZnet's high-performance Ethernet interface chip series, with integrated hardware/TCP/IP stack + MAC+PHY. The full hardware protocol stack technology uses hardware logic gate circuit to realize complex TCP/IP protocol cluster. Its application has obvious advantages such as simple and fast, high reliability and good security. The internal integrated MAC and PHY technology makes the single chip access Ethernet solution. The hardware design is simpler and more efficient.

The W5500 is an all-hardware TCP/IP embedded Ethernet controller that provides an easier Internet connection solution for embedded systems. The W5500 integrates the TCP/IP stack, 10/100M Ethernet data link layer (MAC) and physical layer (PHY), enabling users to extend network connectivity in their applications using a single chip.

The market-proven WIZnet full hardware TCP/IP stack supports TCP, UDP, IPv4, ICMP, ARP, IGMP and PPPoE protocols. The W5500 embeds a 32K byte on-chip cache for Ethernet packet processing. If you use the W5500, you only need some simple Socket programming to implement an Ethernet application. This will be faster and easier than other embedded Ethernet solutions. Users can use 8 hardware Sockets for independent communication at the same time.

The W5500 provides an SPI (Peripheral Serial Interface) to make it easier to integrate with peripheral MCUs. Moreover, the W5500 uses a new high-efficiency SPI protocol to support 80MHz speed, which enables better high-speed network communication. To reduce system power consumption, the W5500 provides Wake-on-Wall (WOL) and power-down modes for customers to choose from.
