Reporter: As the leader of China's lighting industry, how does Foshan Lighting exhibit at this Canton Fair?
Liu Xingming: This autumn fair still feels good business. It turns out that the buyers will be reduced, and the flow of people we see at the pavilion seems to be less, but there are still many guests coming in to talk about business at our company booth. I am quite satisfied with the effect of the exhibition. The feeling is mainly because the brand of Foshan Lighting has a certain influence in the international market. Many guests are coming to the Canton Fair. Second, the product chain is relatively complete, and buyers from all countries and regions can find suitable products for us. Third, Foshan Lighting has launched some new products every year at the Canton Fair, and merchants can go back with some new product information. Sixty-seven percent of the exhibits this year are new products.
Reporter: From the two days of negotiations, which new product guests are more interested?
Liu Xingming: Energy-saving products, LED products, guests are more interested. These two products are the future development trend of the global lighting industry, so it is necessary to seize the opportunity to launch, especially in the current economic downturn, it is necessary to grab ahead of others and strengthen the promotion of such new products.
Open up new markets to meet challenges
Reporter: The economic situation in Europe and the United States is sluggish. This year, all walks of life feel that the export situation is not good. What is the lighting situation in Foshan?
Liu Xingming: The message I heard was that from January to September this year, the export of the entire Foshan lighting industry was down, but the total export volume of our company still increased by 17%. The economic downturn in Europe and the United States, we also feel that if they do not decline, our export volume will be even greater.
Reporter: How to deal with Foshan Lighting?
Liu Xingming: Our current coping strategy is to constantly open up new market areas and not to hang on a tree. In emerging markets such as Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Africa, although the consumption power is not as good as the established market, it is still a developing market and growing rapidly. As long as you seize the opportunity and fill it in, you can still maintain growth.
The specific measures to open up emerging markets are to set up special distribution points to launch Foshan Lighting's own brand. In the past, exports were mainly based on OEM, and the next step was to push their own brands to the international market. (Liu Xingming pointed to a merchant next to him.) Liu Xingming: India and the European Union have always had anti-dumping against China's energy-saving lamps. The impact is of course great. Because of the anti-dumping duties, Chinese products are basically not competitive. However, I heard that the EU anti-dumping duty on energy-saving lamps may be cancelled at the end of this year. We also hope that our energy-saving lamps will be pushed to the EU immediately. We made some preparations for the product for this purpose. This year's Canton Fair has deliberately launched a series of decorative electronic energy-saving lamps, which can directly replace the current bubble-type, sharp-bubble and small-bulb-type incandescent bulbs used in home to meet the needs of European and American customers.
