The report shows that in the third quarter, the Consumer Council of Jiangmen City recovered a total of 1.36 million yuan in economic losses for consumers, of which quality and after-sales problems exceeded 60%.

According to the analysis report, in the third quarter, the city’s various levels of consumer councils received a total of 269 complaints from consumers and letters, a decrease of 112 from the previous quarter, and 242 have been resolved so far. The successful mediation rate reached 89.96%, saving the consumer economic losses. More than 1.36 million yuan.

Judging from the nature of complaints, consumer complaints in the third quarter were mainly focused on quality issues and after-sales services. According to the product type statistics, the number of complaints for household electronic devices was the highest, reaching 128 cases, accounting for 47.58% of the total number of complaints; the transport category was 11.15%, and the daily commodity category was 10% and 41%. Among them, in the daily commodity complaints, furniture products have the most complaints.

Over 87% of home electronics complaints are focused on quality issues, after-sales services and other aspects.

City Consumer Council analysis said that the main reason for the above problems is that some home appliance companies separate sales and maintenance after-sales service, businesses violate the "Three Guarantees", "who sells, who is responsible for" the Three Guarantees principle. In addition, some manufacturers also outsourced after-sales service to non-qualified maintenance points.

In addition to complaints from domestic electronic devices, complaints about communications services are also “relenting for long periods of time”. The report shows that complaints in this area mainly focus on five aspects: opaque tariffs, unfair trade, unrealistic propaganda, unfulfilled promises, and difficult resolution of consumer disputes. The problems reflected by consumers include arbitrary charges, systematic SMS and system calls, and use of discounts to prevent users from “off-grid”.
