Vishay Releases High Performance Single and Dual Channel Load Switches

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced that it has introduced three new single-channel and dual-channel 2A load switches that operate at 1.1V to 5.5V – SiP32411, SiP32413 and SiP32414, with low switching at 1.2V. On-resistance improves efficiency, and a typical controlled soft-start slope of 150μs limits inrush current, smoothing the controlled startup process and minimizing switching noise.

The SiP32411 is a single-channel switch available in 1.2mm x 1.6mm TDFN4 and SC70-6 packages. The SiP32413 and SiP32414 are dual-channel switches in a 2mm x 2mm TDFN8 package. The load switch released today has a switch on-resistance of as low as 66m at 1.2V input (105m? with SiP32411 in SC70-6 package), and each switch supports more than 2A of continuous current.

The space-saving SiP32411, SiP32413 and SiP32414 feature a low-voltage control logic interface that eliminates the need for additional level shifting circuitry. The device's quiescent current is less than 1μA when disabled and 6.7μA at 1.2V, extending battery-operated device operating time. When disabled, the reverse blocking function of the switch prevents large currents from entering the power supply. The SiP32411 and SiP32414 integrated output discharge switches quickly shut down the load circuit when the switch is disabled.

The two load switches in the SiP32413 have reverse control logic. The device can be easily configured as a two-way to one-way power supply, directing two power rails of different potentials to a common point of load. The SiP32414 includes two load switches of the same logic for loads with dual supply rails.

SiP32411, SiP32413 and SiP32414 for load switching in USB, SIM, SDIO, POL, RF and Wi-Fi modules in wireless modems, as well as portable devices such as netbooks and laptops, mobile phones, GPS products, digital cameras and e-books . The device complies with the halogen-free regulations of ROHS Directive 2002/95/EC and IEC 61249-2-21.

Samples of the new load switches are available now and will be available in volume in May. The lead time for major orders is ten weeks.
