Beijing, March 26, 2013 -Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a global leader in innovative solutions for wired and wireless communications semiconductors, announced the launch of the world ’s fastest CMOS converter for long-distance, regional, and urban data transmission Transmitter PHY. Broadcom ’s BCM84128 100G transmitter has a cumulative data rate of 128 Gbps and a power of 2 watts, which is the lowest in the industry, and realizes a high-capacity, 100G optical module and line card design. People's demand for broadband applications such as on-demand services and streaming media video is increasing, and at the same time, it puts pressure on long-distance and urban networks, which in turn drives the demand for higher data transmission rates. According to analysis firm Dell'Oro, as network equipment in long-distance and urban applications is upgraded to TB capacity levels, 100 Gbps optical transmission demand will continue to grow. Dell'Oro expects shipments of 100 Gbps products to increase by about 140% in 2013.
Lorenzo Longo, vice president of Broadcom and general manager of physical layer products (PLP), said: "BCM84128 high-performance transmitter PHY is another demonstration of Broadcom's innovative spirit, allowing OEMs to take full advantage of 100G PHY based on standard CMOS processes The advantages of low power and high reliability. The new products help Broadcom to enter new market segments and pave the way for 100G optical transmission. "
The BCM84128 transmitter manufactured using 40 nanometer (nm) CMOS process technology provides 32 GHz full rate clock output and 16 GHz half rate clock output. Advanced functions such as clock and data offset control can adjust the offset between the line-side interface channels and the offset of the date and clock.
